In 1824 Anton Bruckner was born in the nearby village of Ansfelden. He was choirboy at St. Florian and continued his affection to the Canons Regular by exerting the job of a teacher and an organist at the monastery (1850-1855).
Later on he was organist at the cathedral in Linz, before he went to Vienna to assume professorship in music.
His famous works include 9 symphonies, 3 masses and some motets as well as his remarkable "Te Deum".
In 1896 Anton Bruckner, "the musician of God", died in Vienna. According to his wish he was buried underneath "his" great organ to which he owed so much inspiration and fame.
